ANDRÉ MAGINOT MONUMENT
This impressive stone monument to André Maginot stands in the Souville forest
Leaving Verdun in the direction of the battlefields, a monument to the memory of André Maginot stands on the right in the Souville forest. This impressive stone sculpture features François-Joseph Jolas, the soldier who saved the life of Corporal Maginot, who was wounded during the Battle of Verdun: he is depicted in front of a large shield symbolising the fortified line, which the minister obtained funding for. This work by Gaston Boquet, inaugurated in 1935, was erected on the spot where Maginot received the military medal.
