FORT DE JOUY-SOUS-LES-CÔTES
Fort de Jouy, or Fort Raoult, was built from 1883 to 1885 between the two strong squares of Toul and Verdun. Completely built in stone and not modernized, unlike all other curtain forts, it is protected only by its carapace of mosquitoes. The only improvement is the excavation of new basement galleries. It is a strong River Séré type, a system of fortifications designed by the general of the same name. Designed to block Boncourt's locust and access to the Meuse valley, it also served to cover the fort of Liouville. In pentagonal form, he has four courses at the center of a gap, defended by four caponniers. Intact at the end of the war, he served as a career for a few years. The entrance, the lift bridge and the armored door are still present today. Today, various animations are organized throughout the year: in April the Small Craft Market, in May a cultural animation, in July the international youth site, in September the heritage days and in October a night walk.
