NATIONAL NECROPOLIS
Go there and contact
Near the canal, just at the entrance to the village, the national necropolis of Haudainville is part - like that of Douaumont or Dugny-sur-Meuse - of the nine necropolises in the region. They welcomed the bodies of 57 709 soldiers killed during the two world wars. These places of memory were built in time of conflict, behind the line of fire. Subsequently, initial wood crosses were replaced by stelas or concrete crosses. Two officers of the 19 th Infantry Regiment are based in Haudainville: Captain Marius Lavie and Deputy Emile Poisson, killed in November 1916.
