THE PATH OF THE CANONS
The Chemin des Canons is a beautiful testimony of the 11 m wide wall that surrounded the castle
At the foot of the ramparts. Built in the 11th century, the defensive system consisted of two separate entities: one around the castle and the other around the town. Each entity was surrounded by a rampart and separated by a moat. The path of the cannons is a beautiful testimony of the wall of 11 m broad which encircled the castle. This unique vestige made of rubble stone still shows the stone marks of its builders. You can also access the path via 10-12 rue de Strasbourg. Beautiful view on the city and the surrounding reliefs.
