SAN MARTIN CHURCH
Built between 1753 and 1757, the Saint Martin Church dominates the ramparts of the citadel of Montmedy, which was reorganized by Vauban. This stone building is located on the site of a former sanctuary, which remains only the chapel of Malandry. Voluminous, it is ideal for the large military site in which it is located. Its classical architecture is unique to the churches of the fortified cities, bringing together two imposing square towers as well as a style of remarkable finesse inviting to visit. The cast bronze bell in 1558 is one of the fifty of Meuse as soon as the Revolution. On the facade, the remains of Albert de Meuldre's coat of arms, abbot of Orval, symbolized by the Revolution, recalls that the church is largely financed by the mighty Cistercian Abbey. Inside the nave, a poster is always overlooking the choir.
