Les casemates aux Artistes, a heritage site restored and inhabited by artist-craftsmen in Montmédy.
In 1870, Séré de Rivières undertook the construction of underground casemates inside the citadel. Classified as historical monuments since 1991, they were restored in 2009. French and foreign artists-in-residence, painters, sculptors, and "meilleurs ouvriers de France" (best workers in France), have since set up their workshops there. You can discover sculptures on stone, leather, shamanic works, monumental ornamentation in metal. Do not hesitate to come and meet them.
