An opportunity to discover the castle of Thillombois, through guided tours, located a few miles from Verdun
The Château de Thillombois, 20 km from Verdun, in the heart of the department of the Meuse has been completely restored and is embellished by a large 43 ha English garden. It dates back to the Middle Ages but was transformed into the th century. In 1971, the commune bought it to the Countess of Dampierre. The beauty of the place is as fascinating as it is outside the castle with a splendid chapel, lounges with refined furniture, huge fireplaces, all of them time, and a remarkable library. Dominating the staircase of honour, a large mural represents the Christian Amazon, Madame de Saint-Balmont in a man's dress, an amount on horseback, a famous figure of the 30-year war that raised a small army with villagers and refugees. Once a bourgeois residence, the castle is now a touristic and cultural centre accessible to all, with family celebrations (19 nicely furnished rooms, capacity of 58 sleeps), corporate seminars and other turnkey events. Original guided tours of the castle are also possible, with costumed characters that revive the scene as once.
