CARNAVAL VENITIEN
Since 2006, the Verdun Venetian Carnival has brought together more than 150 costumed and enthusiastic people from all over France every year. Masks, silks, lace, feathers and costumes in sublime colours recall the magic of the famous Venice Carnival. Throughout the weekend, the costumers walk down the stairs of the Victory Monument and then walk through the pretty streets of the city centre and then in a horse-drawn carriage; they pose, under the amazed eyes of the many visitors. As in 2018, 2019, the Union des commerçants is working hard for this enchanting and captivating event and offers many activities: the Italian market throughout the weekend, strolls in the city, fireworks.... And this year, as a novelty for this 14th edition: baptisms in gondolas on the Meuse and flag throwers.
