FAUBOURG-PAVÉ MILITARY CEMETERY
Faubourg military cemetery, just outside Pavé, containing the remains of unidentified soldiers killed in the First and Second World Wars.
On the outskirts of Verdun, the Faubourg-Pavé military cemetery is one of 19 national necropolises in the stronghold, bearing witness to the scale of the battle. 4,884 soldiers are buried here. There is a monument to the dead of both world wars, those tortured and shot. Another square is lined with old cannons. The Carré des Sept inconnus, a memorial to the ceremony for the selection of the Unknown Soldier (November 10, 1920), is home to several unidentified remains.
