MONUMENT TO THE VICTORY AND SOLDIERS OF VERDUN
A crypt displaying various documents relating to the Verdun combatants
In the city centre, inaugurated in 1929 by Gaston Doumergue. Its 73 steps lead to the monumental representation of a warrior leaning on his sword and looking towards the East, allegory of the French victories of 1916 (Verdun) and 1918 (Armistice). It also celebrates the reconstruction of the city. You can visit the crypt, where various documents relating to the fighters of Verdun are on display. In addition to the two Russian cannons taken on the German front, there is a beautiful panorama.
