THE CASTLE OF MERCY
Located near the hospital of the same name, a large regional hospital complex Metz-Thionville, Mercy Castle is a majestic building erected in 1905 by Maurice de Coëtlosquet, a scholar of the late century. In neo-classical style, the building is part of the eclectic movement (architectural movement inspired by past styles). Built with the so-called Savonnière imported from the Barrois, its classic style is also reflected in the gardens French of the old castle park. He has a turbulent history. First family residence, the castle was transformed into a German military hospital in the Second World War in 1940. At the end of the war, the building became French. In the 2000 s it was sold to the agglomeration community of Metz-Métropole. Although close to the district of La Grande-aux-Bois, the castle is now owned by Ars-Laquenexy. Despite a critical state of conservation, this historic jewel continues over time and we hope that the project will see the project revive…
