The Etang de Baerenthal is part of the Pays de Bitche rock and peat bog nature reserve
A real bird sanctuary, the pond is located in the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park. It is part of the Nature Reserve of the rocks and peat bogs of the Pays de Bitche. On the edge of the pond, an ornithological observation post allows you to keep a discreet lookout for the particularly rich fauna, where the great crested grebe carries its young on its back, and where mallards, kingfishers, reed buntings and coots meet. Hiking trails. Fishing is permitted with a day pass for occasional fishing.
