BAMBESCH FORT
The Bambesch structure is part of the Maginot line, construction began in 1931 and continued in the following years. His mission was to defend the national road 3 that linked Metz to Saarbrücken. It is composed of three battle blocks connected by tunnels dug at a depth of more than 20 metres. The galleries were used as living rooms where the kitchen, refectory, power plant, command post and well were located, providing soldiers with drinking water. The Bambesch Guides Association organizes the visits, which last approximately 2 hours. The temperature inside is 10°C, so remember to bring warm clothing and good shoes to walk the 480 steps.
