The church was built between 1865 and 1868 by a sarregueminois architect, Charles Desgranges. From a neo-Gothic style, the construction was made of Vosges sandstone, from a quarry close to the town of Oeting. During the First World War, the church did not suffer too much. In recognition of the destruction of the destruction, the population of Forbach erected in the church in 1923 a statue of Christ. In 1943, four of the five church bells were removed by the Germans for the purposes of the war. Before the church, the statue of Christ escapes from the abduction, the authorities fearing a popular riot. The church and the entire city were badly damaged by American artillery fire during the Liberation fighting of 1944-1945. Following various renovation periods: new bells (1949), restoration of interior walls (1988), complete reworking of the tribune organ (1998-2000).
