A synagogue in the courtyard of a residential house, which is currently the oldest cultural building in Forbach.
This synagogue is currently the oldest cultural building in Forbach, after the Holy Cross Chapel. Around 1730, the Jewish community of Forbach had it built near the inner city gate, more precisely in the courtyard of a residential house. In the following decades, the community grew to such an extent that it was necessary to consider another location. In 1835, the municipality agreed to the construction of a synagogue to accommodate the entire population. It was disused in 2013.
