Built in the early 1850 s and expanded in 1913, the property of which the building was part became the special residence of Gustave Adt, director of the factory's mills Adt.
When in the aftermath of the First World War, the family was expelled for tying in the war its cause to that of their country of origin, Germany. The Adt Schloss, bought by Wendel's family, was transformed into a coal hospital before being renamed Sainte-Barbe, in homage to the Juvenile Protector. His vocation of help and care is still true today. Visible only from the outside, work will be undertaken in the next two years, transforming this building rich in history into an innovative cultural centre.
