FLASGARTEN CALVARY
Remarkable calvary of the 17th century in the north-east of the village of Guinkirchen, is a beautiful testimony of popular piety of that time
No, you are not in Brittany but in Lorraine! This remarkable stone calvary dating from the 18th century, called the Burtin-Jeunhomme calvary, presents a Crucifixion scene. It is a beautiful testimony of popular piety of that time. In the past, it was located near the Flasgarten mill, situated to the north-east of the village. Therefore, it also bears the name of this 13th-century grain mill (the so-called Flasgarten Calvary). Today, only the calvary remains, erected as a devotional by the widow of a miller in 1757.
