SAN MARTIN CHURCH
In the heart of Hayange, this place of worship was built in 1884 to replace the neo-Gothic church dating back to 1771, which was then too small. It was funded by the families of Wendel and Gargan. The church was then devoted on November 15, 1884 by Bishop Fleck, co-adjutant bishop. Inspired by Italian neo-Renaissance, it is the creation of the messin architect René Jacquemin. For the stone facade of Neufchef's quarries, he was inspired by the Church of the Trinity in the 9 th arrondissement of Paris, parish parish of the family of Wendel in the capital. Inside, the church consists of a unique nef, 23.50 m wide and 16.50 m wide, lit on each side by four windows adorned with beautiful windows representing the Virgin Mary and various saints. In all, it's 19 splendid glassware that puts the church into light. The entrance of the choir is marked by a monumental fresco in five religious paintings. Finally, a gigantic organ, the largest in Moselle, was inaugurated in 1893. It is the work of the Dalstein Haerpfer workshops, which provided it with exceptional acoustics: the instrument consists of 53 games, 3 keyboards of 56 notes, 3 207 pipes, 1 200 meters of piping and 4 000 fish skin breads. The church celebrated its centenary by being classified as a historic monument. Find out if you're going through Hayange!
