WENDEL CASTLE
Castle built by Jean-Martin Wendel in the Fensch valley where iron ore was the economic activity, houses a hotel
In the Fensch valley, iron ore has always been at the center of economic activity. In 1704, Jean-Martin Wendel, knight of the Dukes of Lorraine, acquired the "Rodolphe" forges in Hayange. In 1720, he had a castle built there. As the Wendel family's industrial epic unfolded and their finances fluctuated, the castle grew and underwent many changes over time. The castle has a park of 4.3 hectares. Today, the former residence of the family is home to a restaurant and a hotel.
