A true specialist in traditional duck foie gras from the Landes, the long history of LAFITTE has its roots in MONTAUT, a small picturesque village in the Landes region of southwestern France, nestled in the hills of Chalosse, to which the company is intimately linked.

Founded in 1920 by Pierre LAFITTE, the company's original activity was the sale of game (partridges, woodcocks, ortolans, hares...) and FoiesGras to a clientele of traditional restaurateurs in the region.

In 1970, Léon LAFITTE and his children joined forces and the company's activity expanded in France and abroad.

The family business for 4 generations, LAFITTE distributes its products in France to prestigious restaurateurs, to a network of retailers and delicatessens, and has 6 stores (Paris, Bordeaux, Dax, Mont de Marsan, Bayonne and Montaut).

Synonymous with excellence and authenticity, LAFITTE also exports its products in Europe and worldwide.

A traditional duck

Our ducks for foie gras come from an old and rustic strain with slow growth, recognizable by its black and white coloring. An absolute guarantee of quality.

From Landes producers

At LAFITTE, we are committed to controlling the entire chain of production, from duckling to canned product, by collaborating with approximately 80 breeders located within a maximum radius of 40km around Montaut (80% of which are within 25km).

This allows us to perpetuate the tradition of old-fashioned breeding, within the framework of a local and reasoned agriculture on a small scale. In the Landes, our palmipeds are raised in the open air on grassy fields in a natural environment.

An adapted food

All of our production follows the Label Rouge specifications, which require a duck with foie gras from a rustic strain, a feed with non-GMO products (corn, wheat, soy, minerals and vitamins), no antibiotic treatment and traditional fattening in a pen with whole grain corn from the South West.

This traditional type of production represents less than 5% of the French production.
