Roman aqueduct of 12.7 km, classified as a historical monument, built to supply the baths and fountains of Divodorum
Come and discover the remains of this Roman aqueduct, classified as a historical monument! Built at the beginning of the 2nd century, it supplied the baths and fountains of Divodorum, the ancient name of Metz. The aqueduct was more than 22 km long and carried the water collected from the "source of the Gorze broths" to Metz. It consisted of 12.7 km of underground passage, a 1.125 km long arch bridge between Ars-sur-Moselle and Jouy-aux-Arches, and 8 km of underground passage. Today, there are still 7 arches on the Ars-sur-Moselle side and 16 on the Jouy-aux-Arches side.
