THE MENHIRS OF EUROPE
This original collection of high-altitude monolith stones is spread over a seven-kilometer circuit, on the initiative of German artist Paul Schneider. The idea is original: the creation of a symposium on the road between Launstroff (France) and Wellingen (Germany). At the moment, 32 of these 'European menhirs'are located on the edge of the Moselle Valley and the Saarland, alongside the border terminals installed in the nineteenth century, thus becoming stones for peace. From 17 different countries, thirty artists have been involved since 1986. Every summer, artists from all over the world are sculpting on this site. You will discover Toun, a sculptor from Waldwisse and his work that represents a dove of peace on three stones, a reference to the three borders.
