HISTORICAL GUIDED TOUR OF METZ
Guided tour to discover Metz, in the oldest church in France, and to meet the Esplanade and the palace
Discover Metz through the passionate eyes of André Baheux, a native of Metz for some 15 years. The guided tour usually takes place in the morning. It starts at the train station and continues on avenue Foch, in the heart of the Imperial Quarter. After passing in front of the Governor's Palace, then the oldest church in France, Saint-Pierre-aux-Nonnains, André Baheux tells us about the Esplanade and all the personalities who have set foot on it (from Buffalo Bill to Winston Churchill). Then it's on to the 18th century and its most striking legacy: the Place de la Comédie, before moving on to the cathedral (a well-executed tour, in 10 essential points). The tour ends at the Jardin des Tanneurs, on Taison hill. From here, you'll be able to explore the Allemands district and Place Saint-Louis, both below. Finally, anyone still hungry for more Metz history can follow André Baheux to the restaurant. Another way to discover the city, but this time through your taste buds! For further information, please do not hesitate to contact Monsieur Baheux directly.
In line with the criteria for the "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" label, Metz is committed to enhancing and promoting the city's heritage.
