ASSOCIATION OF THE FORT DE METZ-QUEULEU
Association of the Fort of Metz-Queuleu organizing conferences, memorial or cultural events and visits of the site
The Messinian association works for two things: the memory of internees and deportees, and the preservation of Fort Queuleu. Having passed through many hands since its construction in 1865, the fort's role during the Second World War will be remembered above all: as an internment center for Belgian and French prisoners of war, then as a prison and camp for the Gestapo and SS. The association is determined not to forget. It tries to maintain links between survivors and their families, to collect testimonies and documents, and thus to keep the memory alive. Since the early 1970s, the association has also been working on a voluntary basis to maintain and restore the site. As well as organizing conferences and memorial and cultural events, the association also organizes interior tours of the site. Some of these can be organized for groups on weekdays or during school vacations.
