GOAT'S BREADBASKET
The Chèvremont attic is located on the St. Croix Hill, one of the oldest districts of the city. Metz originally housed three granaries and that of Chèvremont was the only one surviving. Built in 1457, its massive and imposing look gives the building a natural authority. With Italian inspiration, it is not rare for this monument to be ready for the role of a Great Church. The sturdy and robust façade is pierced by small windows. At its summit, there is the use of slots to crown the whole. Before the fifteenth century, heavy artillery was stored there. But from the fifteenth century, it was transformed into a large hall, a genuine store for the conservation of cereals. To date, the attic is an integral part of the Court of the Golden Court complex and houses the rooms dedicated to the religious statue of the Middle Ages.
