A guided tour of the house is enhanced by poetic readings that embellish the poet's evocation

Paul Verlaine was born here in 1844 and lived here until 1851, but the poet remained intimately attached to Metz, as evidenced by some of his writings, including Ode à Metz, a poem published in 1892. The exhibition space consists of four exhibition rooms and a shop and bookshop. The guided tour is enhanced by poetic readings that embellish the evocation of the poet. In 2020, this place received the "Maison des Illustres" label. A must-see in Metz!

J'y ai assisté à une représentation théâtrale. " Huis clos " de Jean Paul Sartre par l'école de théâtre de Corny. Super interprétation de jeunes comédiens motivés et mise en scène au cordeau ! On est au plus près des acteurs dans le salon de la maison Verlaine un très beau moment.

A nice Museum full of Verlaine's texts, pictures and even music (songs based on his verse). A lot of information, pictures of old Metz and very friendly staff) Officially by reservation only, but we didn't have any and still were admitted.

De passage à Metz, je souhaitais effectuer une visite libre du musée, comme proposé sur le site. Toutefois, à 14h30, un jour d'ouverture, la porte était toujours close et personne n'a daigné répondre au message laissé sur le répondeur.
