JEAN-MARIE PELT GARDENS
A park offering passers-by areas for relaxation, children's play and leisure in Metz's Amphithéâtre district
Located in the Amphitheatre district (once the legendary Graoully district!), the former Seille Park covers an area of 20 hectares, between the Arena, the Lothaire swimming pool and the Centre Pompidou Metz. It was renamed Jardins Jean-Marie Pelt in 2016, in homage to this illustrious ecologist, a local child. Contemporary in the image of its environment, this park offers passers-by areas for relaxation, children's games and leisure. A large green carpet equipped with benches allows families to settle in peacefully. The banks of the Seille offer a variety of landscapes and a view of the central islet, a small nature reserve in the city centre. Don't miss also the hop garden, the vineyard and the flower plantations. As for fauna, frogs and birds... Pontoons, accessible to people with reduced mobility, welcome Sunday fishermen. Sports fields are available for bowling, basketball or football. Bicycles and rollerblades are not forgotten, with lanes whose surface is specially adapted to these activities.
