STREET OF PIQUES
This narrow, little-known street is located below the Sainte-Croix hill, in the heart of the Îles district
This narrow and little-known street is located below the Sainte-Croix hill, in the heart of the district known as the "islands", because the Moselle river runs through it. Its name has an ancient history. In the past, a very famous hostelry was located here, called the Fleur de Lys, which bears the same name as the street. In 1793, the street changed its name a second time: it was no longer Lilies but Pikes! This term refers to the Sainte-Antoine barn (known as the Antonistes), which once housed an arms warehouse. From there, the view of the Saint Stephen's Cathedral is splendid! Today, one still notices multiple architectural elements within the street: brackets, moldings, arcades, wrought iron spandrels, balconies... And the styles are varied, going from the flamboyant gothic style, at the time of the Renaissance to the classico-rocaille style of the end of the XVIIIth century. If this street is not very frequented, it is however well known by the regulars of the restaurant Georges À la ville de Lyon. We appreciate its calm and its cachet, rich in history and past.

Entre la Cathédrale et la Moselle, cette petite ruelle appelée autrefois la Rue de la Fleure de Lys est d'une beauté extrème avec ses glycines en été et sa richesse patrimoniale.
