An ideal place to stroll between the mirrors and overmantels, accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Charles Joseph de Courcelles, advisor-secretary to King Louis XV, gave his name to the château when it was built in 1713. This historic monument of the 18th century is, like its park, a place of elegance and refinement. It was bought in 1949 by the mayor of Montigny-les-Metz. This castle is the only large-scale civil construction that offers a living history and architecture. The interior reveals elements of the "rocaille" style with a lot of finesse: between mirrors and mirrors surmounted by trumeaux, spiral staircase, parquet floors and woodwork, one can admire panelling, marble and silk... In 2002, with the support of the General Council of Moselle, the municipality embarked on a vast restoration campaign. The latter has contributed to the enhancement of the building and its environment, taking into account its new functions (cultural space for the public). The spirit and character of the building were respected in order to restore the original atmosphere of the place. The renovation work was officially completed in 2005. Now, the Europa-Courcelles space opens its doors regularly to offer a wide range of activities and artistic events (festival, exhibitions, concerts). But the place is also open to private receptions, and this place gives its special moments a unique atmosphere (parties, weddings), making it possible to rent rooms. Finally, the back of the park offers a beautiful panorama from which Mount Saint-Quentin is visible. A place to discover!
