The botanical garden is more than 4 hectares to visit, 2 greenhouses, ponds, animals and exoticism!
A real green lung in the city, the Botanical Garden, first known as Frescatelly Park, was bought in 1866 from the Baroness de l'Espée. It covers 4.4 hectares. As soon as you enter, a majestic Ginkgo Biloba tree (which in autumn lays down a carpet of yellow leaves) welcomes you opposite the duck pond. The garden is home to a hundred species, some of which are rare and exotic, such as a sequoia, a California nutmeg tree, a liquidambar, a bald cypress, a caramel tree, banana trees and palm trees. The two greenhouses with a total surface area of 1,000 m² (whose architecture evokes the innovations of the Universal Exhibitions in the 19th century) house ponds where goldfish and a family of turtles live, a large birdcage and a series of unusual plants (carnivorous and epiphytic), flora that is not very common in our regions! You will be surprised by the tropical heat inside. Once outside, you can have fun in the garden of scents to recognize the fragrant plants: mint, thyme, fennel, marjoram... What a pleasure to cross the rose garden, with its regular and geometrical layout, containing 80 varieties of roses, the scents and beauty of these flowers will fill you with joy. And for the children, go to the play area where a thousand and one adventures await them! Nature lovers will be able to see nuthatches and woodpeckers in the trees. And for a smart walk, join the Jouy canal at the exit!
