CHAPELLE SAINTE AGATHE
A chapel in Réding featuring a choir and remarkable frescoes depicting the four Evangelists.
The chapel features a choir and 13th-century frescoes. It was consecrated on June 26, 1035 by Thierry II of Luxembourg, Bishop of Metz. The church was originally dedicated to Saint Voldaricus, or Ulrich in its modern form. Saint Agathe is the patron saint of wet nurses. During restoration work undertaken in 1977, the Grand'Eich chapel dedicated to Saint Agathe revealed four 13th-century frescoes evoking the four Evangelists: the eagle of Saint John, the ox of Saint Luke, the lion of Saint Mark and the angel of Saint Matthew.
