Monument in Réding, built by non-commissioned officer Jacob Stenge to mark Germany's victory.
This is the first monument erected by Germany to mark its victory at the site of the counter-offensive launched on August 20, 1914 during the Battle of Sarrebourg. From this strategic point, Bavarian artillery pounded the guns of the 37th artillery regiment of the 8th C.A., 5 km to the south-west (today's military cemetery). Built in autumn 1914 by non-commissioned officer Jacob Stenger, it fell into neglect and deterioration before being restored in 1991. On a clear day, it's a great place to take a stroll and enjoy the panoramic views.
