Pond in Rhodes for water sports, fishing and other activities.
In the heart of pond country, the étang du Stock spreads over more than 700 ha, shared between its 4 bordering communes, all belonging to the Sarrebourg Moselle sud area: Diane-Capelle, Kerprich-aux-Bois, Rhodes and Langatte. Managed by Voies navigables de France, the pond serves as a water reserve for the Houillères de la Sarre canal. It is also a leisure site that attracts locals and tourists alike. The Rhodes side of the pond is ideal for motorboat rides, while the Langatte side is ideal for swimming and non-motorized activities on the water. Fishing is also very popular. Binoculars can be used to observe several species of waterfowl nesting in the reed beds, fishing birds gliding across the water, and during migrations, species stopping off to feed. It's in the Trois-Ponts area that the Canal de la Sarre spans the Etang du Stock, and where you'll find some of the best naturalist observations.
Sailing: the best way to discover and appreciate the étang du Stock is to set sail. On this shimmering expanse of nearly 700 hectares, sailboats cross paths with fishermen's boats, while water-skiers follow in the wake of pleasure craft.
Fishing: the étang du Stock is rich in fish (perch, pike-perch, pike-perch, catfish, carp....). In Rhodes, you can fish near the village and launch boats in the quartier des Fleurs.
Hiking: the pond can be explored on two trails of around 8 km each, one to the west from Rhodes and the other to the east from Langatte.
