RODEMACK WASH-HOUSE
Go there and contact
This pretty washhouse, still in use in the 1960s, draws its water from one of the countless springs that emerge at the foot of the castle. At the time, women gathered there to clean their laundry while chatting with each other, a real place that created social ties... In front of its entrance, you can see one of the six bildstocks (or calvaries) listed in Rodemack; nevertheless, this one is probably the oldest of all. Its Gothic architecture (15th and 16th centuries) is found in particular in the round base of the barrel. The altarpiece, on the other hand, is based on the usual scene of Christ on the cross, surrounded by Saint John and the Virgin Mary.
