RODEMACK CITADEL
A citadel located in Rodemack presenting a war heritage that has lasted for centuries, also hosting a wine market
Since 2016, when important archeological excavations were carried out with a view to its development, the citadel of Rodemack is revealed and presents a war heritage that has crossed the centuries. This fortification has undergone many sieges, from the Thirty Years' War to the 19th century, when it was notably defended by Victor Hugo's father. Every year in April, the vaulted cellar of the citadel hosts a wine market of the Most Beautiful Villages of France. The medieval town of Rodemack and the ramparts are open to the public all year long.
