Discovery of an underground city equipped to support 173 men in Rohrbach-lès-Bitche.
The Maginot infantry structure was the guardian of the Rohrbach plateau. Its three surface blocks, two of which were used for fighting, are all open to visitors. At a depth of 25 m, you will discover a real underground city equipped to provide for 173 men. The tour takes you through the barracks, the ammunition bunkers and up to the combat block, then continues with the power plant, the dormitories, the barracks and the kitchens... Outside, the footpath links the entrance and combat blocks. A very interesting and instructive visit.

Opening time and information on LE FORT CASSO
Open all year round. Except Christmas and New Year's Day. Guided tour at 3pm from Monday to Friday from June to October; additional tour at 10am from June to August included; guided tour at 3pm on Saturdays from March to October; visit on Sundays and holidays at 3pm all year round and at 4pm in addition from June to August. Free for children under 5 years old. Adult : 7 €. Children (from 5 to 14 years old) : 3 €. Reduced rate 6 € (Pass Lorraine, Group). Guided tour (bring warm clothes: indoor temperature 13° all year round and walking shoes for the visit of the work. Duration of the visit: 2 hours).

Follow the guide and plunge 25 m underground to discover these ultra-modern facilities for the time: power plant, kitchen, barracks and telephone exchange are just some of the elements you will be able to see. The visit will continue with the discovery of a battle block and the setting in battery by the visitors of a 135 tons turret.

Das auf dem Freigelände des Museumsareals gebotene Programm war jedoch ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis. Es gab 3 Camps. Deutsch, französisch und ein amerikanisches Lager. Jedes sehr umfangreich und mit vielen interessanten Details ausgestattet. Im amerikanischen Sektor gab es zudem viele Fahrzeuge zu sehen. Belebt durch viele uniformierte Darsteller schon sehr sehenswert. Doch mein Highlight des Tages war das Reenactment eines Gefechtes zwischen Deutschen und Amerikanern. Mit einem Kampfblock des Forts im Hintergrund, Fahrzeugen und reichlich Pyrotechnik ein sicherlich einmaliges Erlebnis. In Deutschland schier undenkbar.
Kontrast zum historischen Kriegsgerät bot ein Infostand der französischen Armee mit einem aktuellen Fahrzeug und moderner Technik.
Für Speisen und Getränke zu fairen Preisen war außerdem gesorgt sowie einem Bereich in dem Militaria sowie Kleidung gekauft werden konnte.
Ich werde sicherlich das Fort zwecks Besichtigung erneut besuchen und für den Fall einer zweiten Veranstaltung dieser Art werde ich auch wieder vorbeischauen.
Mes amis et moi même avons testé l escape game qui était vraiment sympa et le faite de l effectuer dans un décor comme celui ci était vraiment génial. De plus les bénévoles sont des passionnés qui vous explique des lieux et ils sont d une accueille très chaleureuse. Nous recommandons cette expérience !!
