LA GRAND'RUE
The Grand' Rue is dotted all along with stalls, restaurants and stores of all kinds
The main shopping street in Sarrebourg town center, the Grand'Rue is dotted with boutiques, restaurants and signs of all kinds. Architecturally, it features historic facades from the 18th and 19th centuries. Many of them feature sculpted ornamentation: scrolls, consoles, lozenges, clasps, geometric motifs and braced arches... At no. 36, the neo-Rhenish style is evident in the Vosges pink sandstone front. Further on, at n° 64, was the former home of Joseph Beunat, founder of a stucco decorating factory known as "Pâte de Sarrebourg", a low-cost stone putty used precisely for sculpted ornamentation.
