CASTLE RUINS
The ruins of this castle form small alleys dotted with greenery
Dating from the 13th century, the castle was intended to protect the abbey of Saint-Denis, but also to assert the authority of the duchy of Lorraine on the surrounding territory. Alas, not much remains of this castle and its fortifications today: the old main gate and a tower survived the demolitions ordered by Richelieu in 1634, and then the construction of the railroad line between Sarreguemines and Béning in 1865. The small alleys formed by its ruins and dotted with greenery are full of memories!
