The Borders Festival? A cultural meeting with international vocation. Reflection, exchanges, animations will decline the theme of borders over time and space. In time, since Thionville and its region are the product of a long history marked by movements of borders, states and large movements of populations. In space, since Thionville, in a rapidly changing cross-border region, lives at the pace of crossing borders. Every day the Thionvillois and many other Lorraine cross them. Yesterday barrier or front line, the border became a resource, an asset. But differences, identities, languages, collective and personal stories remain. Openness is done under the eyes of the other. Never before has there been any mention of borders, open or murked. Whether in politics, sociology, history, geography, economics, science, artistic and literary creation… The issue of borders will be addressed in all its aspects. In co-production with its local, regional and international partners, the festival offers every two years new animations and a cycle of high-level conferences and cultural activities. And if we start by transcending our own borders…
