CHAPELLE SAINTE-CLAIRE
Charming mountain chapel on the site of an ancient Celtic sanctuary, where the pilgrimage of St. Clare continues.
This is one of the Seven Roses of Saint-Quirin, in this case the white rose. The Sainte-Claire chapel is located on the departmental road 96F, on the outskirts of Vasperviller in the direction of Saint-Quirin. This charming mountain chapel occupies the site of an ancient Celtic sanctuary, Christianized in the 6th century. In 1440, it became a chapel with a hermitage, then, in the Middle Ages, a Poor Clare monastery, before becoming a hermitage again in the 18th century. Restored in 1808, the pilgrimage to Sainte-Claire, invoked to cure eye diseases, continues.
