CHÂTEL-SUR-MOSELLE FORTRESS
Châtel-sur-Moselle is a very important medieval fortress that has remained a high-level defensive building over the centuries.
The most important medieval fortress in Lorraine. Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, it has remained a high-level defensive building throughout the centuries due to its strategic position. First in the hands of the Counts of Vaudémont in 1072, Châtel became the property of the Sires of Neufchâtel before becoming definitively Lorraine in 1544. Today, we owe its preservation to the work of many volunteers. There are no less than three floors of galleries and underground rooms.
