CASTLE OF THORNS
Wooden tower that gradually became a castle from the 12th to the 18th century, with an animal park, vineyards and playgrounds
Of the castle of Épinal, only a few vestiges and the large park remain. This one, former property of the treasurer Christophe Doublat, is accessible by the Chinese Tower of the 19th century. From the 12th to the 18th century, what was initially a wooden tower gradually became the town's castle. It then became a fortified enclosure overlooking the Moselle valley. The Thirty Years' War and the wars of Louis XIV marked the end of its prestige. Today, the castle is home to a wildlife park, vineyards, playgrounds and a riding school.

A monument to visit, but in ruins. Do not expect to visit fine pieces with hangings etc. But is nevertheless a place to see and do known. The view is beautiful.
un espace animalier...est superbe.
