The Chapter district is located around the Saint-Maurice basilica
The Chapitre district is located around the Saint-Maurice basilica. The rue du Chapitre is lined with private mansions and canons' houses that once belonged to the canonesses. Established until the French Revolution, the cloister of the canonesses is the starting point of this street which leads to the old fortifications. At the end of the street, three towers and nearly 75 m of ramparts are revealed, vestiges of the importance of the medieval fortifications. The findings of the excavations are exhibited in the Chapter Museum.
