A chalet, or a log house, you dream about it? Marcel Mougel, vosges and Montane, built his first wooden chalet in the 1960 s. His idea: create a friendly and mountain-friendly housing for tourists who have grown more and more during the advent of skiing in the Vosges. His cottages are always standing! Better, Marcel Mougel conveyed his passion for wood to his son Lionel. A graduate of the BTS in forest management, he discovered the fuste during a course in Chamonix. It is a cottage house whose walls consist of logs of wood piled on each other. Lionel takes a tour of manufacturers in France, Switzerland and Canada, deepens the different techniques and develops a concept adaptable in the mountains, in plain, at the seaside… In 1994, as a result of his dream, he built his own house in fuste. A prototype and a real-size test centre. No major problems have been encountered so far and maintenance is minimal. Lionel and his partner Jean-Luc, who are recognised and passionate, perform main or secondary residences from 50 to 350 m ².
