CHAUME DE SCHMARGULT
Since 1919, this thatch, which was given to farms located on the Vosges mountains, belongs to the Neff family. We are at the end of the world, lost at 1 200 m altitude in the middle of the mountains, calm in the heart of the ski area of La Bresse, fir, meadows and pastures, and not the shadow of a house on the horizon, no doubt that here is so beautiful. The hotel is adjacent to the family farm. Inside, the large wooden dining room with large exposed beams, a yoke of beef attached to one of them, des moulds placed on the chimney, a trolley wheel serving as lustre. The place is all indicated to taste the specialities of the Vosges region, like the pick of Munster. The marquaire menu also referred to as the farmer's menu, the tray to the home meat or the pie in Munster, the fake net in Munster, the farm cheeses and the white cheese to the kirsch or aux, the fruit pies and the baeckeofe which must be booked in advance. Not to mention the toffailles that were previously prepared at the fireplace by putting potatoes, onions and butter in a cast iron casserole made from fire. This delicious dish was served from 1 h 30 to 2 h with smoked meat or a lard omelet. You can imagine the atmosphere by looking at the large fireplace with its beautiful cast iron plate where large logs are crackle. In summer, the large terrace offers a panoramic view of the massif. Finally, you can't leave without buying on site Munster, Barkass, milk, butter or yoghurt. Smart plans: possible visits to the beautiful Botanical Garden of Du, discovering the chamois or the summer toboggan. A wonderful place.
