Guided tour through the galleries in the footsteps of the miners
The dukes of Lorraine exploited the copper mines of Le Thillot as early as 1560. Black powder, a revolutionary technique for extracting ore with explosives, was used here for the first time. The guided tour allows you to enter the galleries in the footsteps of the miners, to understand the organization of the site and to observe the pumping equipment that has remained on site for more than two centuries after the mines were closed. You can visit the Saint-Thomas and Saint-Charles mines, the Maison des Hautes-Mynes and the Rouge Montagne mine.
