SAINT-PIERRE-FOURIER MUSEUM
Saint Peter's Museum located under a superb frame, with a magnificent tree, offering shade to the harvesters in Mattaincourt
The Saint Pierre Fourier Museum is located in the old presbytery near the well of the Miracle de Mattaincourt. On two floors, this museum is located under a magnificent frame rebuilt in 1988 in the way of the seventeenth century by a master carpenter. A figure of Lorraine patriotism, Saint Pierre Fourier was the priest of Mattaincourt. He lived there for about twenty years. Born on November 30, 1565 in Mirecourt, he was beatified on January 29, 1730 by Pope Benedict XIII. Pope Léon XIII canonised him on May 27, 1897. Legend: At that time the fields were stretched out of sight, the harvests worked in the fields. It was then that in order to rock the peasants, Pierre Fourier planted his stick and made a source. This one, considered miraculous, was captured during the construction of the chapel. Then, planting his stick, the priest would have turned into a beautiful tree to offer shade to the harvesters… After your visit, you can go to the Basilica.
