Private mansion with Renaissance staircase and medieval cellars, a historic site housing Neufchâteau town hall.

The Hôtel de Houdreville, now the town hall, is a remarkable building. Since 1803, the town hall has occupied a private mansion built between 1578 and 1594 by a wealthy grain merchant, Jean Mengin d'Houdreville. It houses a remarkable staircase, a specimen of the Renaissance in Lorraine. The stone staircase has five landings and leads to the attic of the mansion. The fully carved stone ceilings are also remarkable. The Renaissance staircase and medieval cellars are open to visitors during Town Hall opening hours.
