The house of Charles de Bruyères, an aristocratic collection in Remiremont.

In 1905, Charles de Bruyères, a lawyer, bequeathed his house and the collections it houses to his native town. A direct descendant of an ancient noble family, he collected portraits recalling the alliances of his ancestors with the Dukes of Lorraine and the noble chapter of the town. The city of Remiremont added many French and Dutch paintings as well as objects and works from the abbey church of Remiremont.
