CHURCH OF SAINT PAUL-LÈS-DAX
This church on the way to Santiago de Compostela has a Romanesque choir decorated with magnificent historical bas-reliefs
On the route to Santiago de Compostela, the beautiful church of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax boasts a Romanesque choir adorned with magnificent historiated bas-reliefs. Set on a wooded promontory, the church is believed to have been built in the 11th century and replaced in the 12th. Listed as a Monument Historique, it seems to nod to Dax Cathedral. Composed of eleven finely sculpted white marble slabs, the bas-reliefs depict several stages in the life of Christ.
